I am Keith and have been worshipping, with my wife Meg, since I retired from full-time ministry and moved to Biddulph in 2011
I was born in Liverpool, living in Crosby and then Wallasey. After school I worked for Lloyds Bank for 7 years, prior to starting my training for the ministry. I spent one year at Durham before completing my training at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. It was while in Oxford that I met Meg. We were married in 1974.
In 1975 I was ordained in Liverpool, where I served a 4 year 1st curacy in Everton. We then moved to Buckhurst Hill in Essex, where I served my 2nd curacy, prior to becoming Team Vicar. In 1988 I was appointed Team Rector of Leek and Meerbrook. Then, in 1999, we moved to my final parish in Formby, midway between Crosby and Southport.
Why retire to Biddulph? We love the Staffordshire Moorlands and already knew the Parish from working in the Leek Deanery and knew that it was a parish where we would be happy to worship. I assist in leading services, funerals and weddings. Meg is in the Music Group and leads one of the Home Study Groups, which she and I seek to support.
We have three children. Catherine is a linguist and lectures at present at Manchester Metropolitan University. Paul is married to Gaynor and lives in Failsworth, between Manchester and Oldham. He self employed and works from home as a video editor. They have a daughter, Annie, who was born in 2014. Our youngest is Pippa, who is a solicitor, working in the commercial law sector. She is married to James and lives in Congleton with their son Mikey, who was born in 2013.
I am a member of the Biddulph U3A Walking Group and enjoy spending each Thursday morning exploring the beautiful countryside that surrounds us in this part of the country. I enjoy photography but, like so many retired people will tell you, I can’t believe where the time goes!
